THE ISSUE
PO-problématique_ANG

The use of second-hand parts from out-of-use vehicles (ELV) for repairing on-road vehicles is an economical and environmentally friendly solution. It helps save economically irreparable vehicles from destruction, while being a noble way to recycle ELV components. In terms of resource preservation, the benefits are twofold!

To be easily accessible to business clients, this offer must guarantee parts compliance and fulfil expectations in terms of availability. The ICARRE 95 project, by associating a network of ELV Centres with a car manufacturer, has endeavoured to develop a business platform intended for repair professionals, providing them with simplified access to guaranteed genuine second-hand parts.

INDRA’S RESPONSE, NETWORK OF APPROVED ELV CENTRES

The response to auto repair specialists’ need for spare parts resulted, as part of the ICARRE 95 project, in the creation of a platform where member ELV Centres can share their spare parts. INDRA contributed its expertise in ELV dismantling and part traceability solutions, and developed the quality assurance process and the commercial conditions for the offer. INDRA partnered with SIDEXA, the French leader in collision repair estimates, to effectively resolve the issue of parts identification, a prerequisite to guarantee their compliance.

The platform created, called PRECIS (Second Hand Spareparts of the Indra Sidexa), shares tens of thousands of guaranteed second-hand parts and allows repair professionals to perform the entire transaction: from the initial search to the order.

THE RESPONSE OF THE CAR MANUFACTURER

As part of ICARRE 95, RENAULT has endeavoured to promote second-hand parts among its network by providing an offer, the first of its kind in Europe. This offer combines second-hand and new parts to control the repair costs of crashed vehicles deemed beyond economic repair under the traditional 100% new parts offer.

The platform developed to support this offer is called SVA (Second Life for your Car). It is connected to PRECIS (Second Hand Spareparts of the Indra Sidexa) and allows repair professionals from the RENAULT network to generate an adapted estimate in a few clicks. Once the customer, and sometimes the automotive expert, have agreed, the parts order is recorded by PRECIS (Second Hand Spareparts of the Indra Sidexa) and completed.
